Default just out of curiosity

I dont know a whole lot about engines, but i wondered something. if you took a stock LS1, and put a set of non-ported 6.0 L truck heads on it (lowering the compression to 9:1)..... then you took it and put a blower (8 lb maybe) on it with a 150 shot nitrous kit, what would this yield? a monster? or a slow POS?

8psi @ about 9.5:1 compression intercooled equates around 550hp. Add 150 shot of NO2 and you have pieces of broken engine laying under your car.

that sucks, but youre saying that without the Nitrous, it would be a good setup? does anyone have this setup that can speak from experience?

I'm speaking from experience. I've worked on somewhere around 30-40 supercharged LS1/LS6 engines. 8psi is right at the limit of the stock components. Sure, you can go higher than that but it won't last long.

ok. if an LS1 with 8lb boost on 9.5:1 CR 6.0L truck heads equates to about 550 hp, then how much horsepower would 8 lb. be on a stock LS1 10:1 compression (stock heads?)

8 PSI doesn't mean anything. PSI is a measure of restriction, not power or airflow.

8 PSI on 6.0 heads isn't 8 PSI on LS1 heads.

If your tuning was right on, you'd have a great setup. But it probably wouldn't last.

Check Rob Raymer's forumla out, he was putting 700+ to the ground with a stock motor. Not something I'd try, but he's doing exactly what you're talking about.

My advice: if you're going to all the trouble of FI + nitrous, spend the $2800 at a sponsor and get a small cube forged short block. Well worth the money.
