Default need cam suggestions, lightweight and 4.10 geared

Im currently dropping a LS1 in a 87 S-10 that ive gutted out. Ready to run weight will be roughly 2600 lbs and im running 4.10's in a Moser 12 bolt. I want to start out with something streetable and not something that is going to require alot of converter if i keep the auto and dont go M6. I should be popping high 12's on the stock LS1 and im basically just wanting to get into the high tens for now. I was thinking about the AFR mongoose heads and a 224 .581 comp cam, which would be a little more than what i want if i stay A4 but its not written in stone yet. Only thing i have done now is a LS6 intake and im running my own fabbed LT's with 36" primary lengths, 1 3/4 primary diameter and 3 inch collectors.

Take it easy...there are literally hundreds of cam posts on this board. Newbs are always asking "which cam"...all you need to do is a search and you'll have hours and hours of good reading. Some people just dont like answering the same question over and over. That XER 224 cam will run very well in an auto...very little surging and will make good power to boot.

so within 16 hrs youve decided to swap to the m6 instead of an a4 because a thread got lost in the mix after you posted at 2am? lol most mild 224 cams will be ok on a stock converter car or in your case truck..but in any ls1 with a cam your peak tq will probalby be made upwards of 4500 rpms so youll really want a converter to take advantage of the powerband...have fun with the attitude it'll get ya real far.

guys i aint gotta tude...i was just summing up that i got it on my own. Im swapping out to a M6 not just because of converter selection, but also of the power handling capabilities added with the fact im a gear banger. I know auto's are better for dragging but im revising my future wants with the truck and i believe that i would be happier with a M6 in the long run, I have one in my blown 79Z and i love it. Im getting a complete conversion kit with 47K miles on a trade with my A4, camaro acc. brackets, wiring harness, a computer and some cash. I wasnt gettin an attitude at all with you guys...its not exactly something you do the first time you come to a board. I was kinda doing it in a joking matter so everybody chill . I was just hoping that someone that knew more about LS1 motors, this is my first, could probably give me a few pointers as to what to look for. Just asking ppl with more experience in the Gen III motor for advice, nothing more. Its hard to sit here and sort through all the cam posts until 4 am like i did last night. But anyway, sorry if i did come off like i had a tude...yall take it easy. BTW i 'preciate the advice.
