Trading Duration For Lift ?

Trading Duration For Lift ?
I'm currently running a Comp 216/220 .525/.532 114 in my 99. (see sig). What would be the effect of swapping a 02 LS6 cam 204/218 .551/.547 117.5? The car has Lingenfelter Stage 2 heads. I'd be trading some duration for more lift and a wider LSA. I'm getting tired of misfire codes screwing with my T/C lockup. I have a LS6 intake that will be going on the car also. Your thoughts please on how the car would feel with this swap.

My thoughts are get a bigger cam and have the car tuned. Then you won't cry everytime your SES light comes on. And you will run faster than you do now.

Do you guys want to give me $400 for a cam, $180 for springs and $650 for tuning? Didn't think so. I can get a 02 LS6 cam and springs for $200. Now does anyone want to answer my questions?

Another slightly more aggressive grind to consider is Comp part no. 54-424-11. Specs are 212/218-.558/.563-115LSA. Smooth idle; won't need tuning. You should be able to get it for south of 400 bux.

Re: Trading Duration For Lift ?
Keep the cam, get the tuning. That's what I did.
I got 366 rwhp/347 rwtq (corrected) with stock heads, stock LS1 intake, and a low-lift (.510) long duration (228/234) cam, running through cats.
Now that I've seen the specs on that new LG cam with a duration of 232/240, I will definitely try adding a set of the SLP 1.85:1 rockers to my setup. I was told this was way too much duration for the stock heads. I'm not convinced of that anymore. The rockers would give me around 233/237 duration with around a ~560 lift. I think I could get pretty close to 390 rwhp with the rockers and an LS6 intake on the stock heads. We'll see.
