Default 11.2:1 on 92 pump gas...plugs?

I am trying to decide between 3 different types

TR-55 (ran these for years with bolt ons, liked them)
TR 6
TR-55IX (iridium version of TR-55 with a 0.040 gap)

I will not be running nitrous EVER, and this is not a DD, but i do drive it on the street 90% of the time, other 10% is spent on the autocross course.

Setup is in sig but i run 11.2:1 compression with 92 octane on a 0.040 head gasket. I have TR-55 right now, but they have been in there for a few years, time for some new ones.

I'm at 11:1 on 93 and I've been using the TR55 plugs with the recommended gap. No Knock Retard or anything on the dyno or street, so I would think you would be fine with those, but I've run TR6's in similar cars and no problems there either.

**Just what my tuner recommends**

For every full point of compression raised, or addition of 100HP, one step colder.

My car made 460/420 and I ran a TR6 gapped at .040. At the time I was 11.7:1

Like KCS said though, I previously ran 55's gapped at .055 with no problems either, same car, same mods.

Run TR6s gapped @.040-.045. You've increased both compression and power. Your car and others may run fine with the stock heat range plugs, but it is safer to run the proper heat range.

I'm still on TR55s but have lowered the gap. I hope everyone is aware the original gap spec was for emissions and has been revised and reduced in a GM TSB. .035 would be correct according to present literature IIRC.

I thought it was originally .045, and the TSB revised to say .055?

Well, now I've got something to research today...

It was originally 60 and was changed to 35. Tr55s are gapped to 60 out of the box.

I ran a tr6 at 11.6:1 but it was a bit too hot for it.. So absolute minimum I'd do with your combo is a 6.. I had no issues with knock but further inspection of plug, told me it was too hot..

Ok so i am getting that the TR-6 is the way to go, and for gap, i am thinking .040 for a start point, inspect and move on from there. Is their any benifit to running .045 over .040 for a street motor that sees 6k+ maybe twice a year?

With a TR6, a gap in the .035" to .045" range would be good.

I have mine gapped to .035". I'll know if that's wrong when I get it tuned...

TR6s are gapped at 35 outta the box. NGK recommends knocking 5 off the gap for each 50hp increase over stock as an FYI.
