Default Cam swap issues..HELP!

Okay, I just got done swapping out my cam on my 99 SS. It has 232/234 112 LSA cam. I also got my heads ported at a local machine shop. The car starts up and idles fine, when I drive it is when its starts acting up. It cuts out between taking off from a stop until around 2500-3000 RPM. Then when I'm cruising, its feels like its in the wrong gear and jerks. I got a frost mail order tune on it, I've heard nothing but good things about his work. I don't know if anyone has had the same problem and its something simple. HELP!! I want to drive my car ASAP!!

That tune is just a "start up, get it to the tuner" tune... A tuner needs to spend time with it and see where fuel trims, iac counts, the whole 9 yards are.

Agreed, you need a "real" tune.

BUT, I suspect there's more going on here. What other changes or "upgrades" did you do at the same time? Any codes? What's your fuel pressure? What's the condition of your MAF?

Just the cam and head work. I got a cam package from texas speed, so it came with pushrods and .650 dual springs. Also has a ls6 intake and full exhaust

Alright. It sounds like something in the EFI system is screwed up. Codes? Fuel? MAF? Something unplugged?

It doesn't have any codes, I tried unplugging the MAF and it ran a little better but still like ****. I don't see anything else unplugged, thought it might of been a vacuum leak but everything seems to be in the right place. Its driving me nuts.

I suspect it may be something else as well. It may surge and struggle to idle some but it should drive OK.

my buddy and i had the same issue after the heads and cam swap. no codes would idle but when we tried to drive it, it ran like crap.. we were so lost but we decided to just swap out the plugs and gapped i think .045 or .050??? and that was last year and it runs strong. he has the tsunami cam and prc heads.

Mine done this also & flipped no codes. Took it to the tuner & it was the O2 sensors.

I'm going to change my plugs with weekend, if that doesn't fix it, I have an appointment at the WS6 store on Wednesday. I'm tired of messing with it haha

make sure your map sensor is plugged in...though it should have thrown a CEL/code if it weren't

Get it tuned properly, don't rely on a one tune does all.
All engines are different.

Send it back to Frost. His tunes cost too much money to be "get you to the tuner" tunes. He should be able to make tweaks to it. That is...if the time period with him hasn't expired. My tune with him wasn't a pleasant experience either.

Frost's mail order tunes aren't all that costly-I think it's less that from PCMForless.

BUT, they should be able to give you a tune that works.

HOWEVER, with all the other work you've done, I'd still say it's something you've done or missed causing your issues.

For the record, all my tunes have been mail order tunes from PCMForless including my S10 DD and I've never been less than satisfied. They've always done right by me.
