Question LS1 or LS6 Intake

I'm new to the whole LS world but eager to learn, but I recently bought a 99 Z28 with quite a few mods. What I want to know is if there is a way for me to look at my intake and tell if it is an LS1 or an LS6 intake. Thanks.

The LS1 intake will have a hole for the EGR right behind the throttle body. The LS6 intake would not have that hole there.

Thanks. How much would it be worth to change from a LS1 intake to an LS6?

OP, the ls6 intake is a pretty good mod for 98-00 fbodies. You can get them pretty cheap, and will flow better than the ls1 intake. Also, post the part number embossed on the side of the intake to make sure its a ls6 intake. I think there was a slp ls6 intake that also had the egr connection.

There is 4-5 different part numbers, but as long as its flat on the bottom then it's a ls6..

The slp version was a non egrls6 modified w a huge brass connector where the erg goes for connection.

Don't worry about part numbers, if it flat and not concave at the bottom where it would touch the valley cover then it's a ls6..

Always check the bottom when buying, same applies with women!

What about the non-LS6 Vette intakes? Did they not have the EGR hole? How would you tell one apart from a LS6 intake?

The ls1 vette intake doesn't have the egr hole, but it still has the concave at the bottom.

When buying one, always ask to see pics of the bottom. Some people do accidentally buy the vette intakes thinking its a ls6 at first glance..

Ls6 far right, ls1 left..

Notice the ls1 has the "v" concave in it in the middle.. It's this way because it had to clear the ls1 coolant lines..
