Default ls6 oil issues

New to the forum so hello everyone.

Just recentley purchased an 01Z low mileage for a great price. I dont know much history on the car but long story short, car has 25xxx miles on it, original motor went bang. Previous owner got a bottom end from his friends camaro (forged 383), reman 243's, ms3 cam, full bolt on and tune.

Car performs flat out awesome, however when I got it I added a quart of oil due to it being low. I put roughly 200 miles on the car and low engine oil already. I had to add another quart. It has the catch can and when I emptied it there was more water than oil. Im new to these engines and have read some threads but the water and a quart in such a short time bothers me.

After the car warms and I drive it fora short time it smokes at a stop light and rpms dip before it recovers. Open to any suggestions.

Thanks.

White during warm up, spits out a bunch of condensation and black soot. After warmed its blue tinted but also smells rich, only while stopped, nothing under load.

Sounds like something could be wrong with the catch can routing. I'd also look at the rings, although it sounds like those are relatively new. Did the PO seat the rings properly when installed? It could also be valve seals.

To get an idea of the health of the rings, do a compression check, and while you're at that take a look at the plugs and see if they have oil or residue on them.

Ill take the plugs out over the weekend and post the info. I no nothing of the bottom end in it or who built it or how many pases are on it. Only thing he said was forged with lunati internals, was set up for nitrous but was not sprayed.

Also the catch can is routed from valley cover to the very top inlet of the catch can, and back out tk the passenger side of the throttle body/intake.

If the motor was built for nitrous, it's likely that the rings are gapped a little wider.

Your catch can routing sounds okay, but you may want to try adding a couple things. See this diagram for info:

Diagram shows an actual pcv valve. my vehicle does not have one. do you have a specific part number for a pcv valve or just use a generic one.

Not sure, I would assume anything would work.
