Texas Speed 228R Cam Package
Looking around at different cam setups for my LS1 and came across the Texas Speed Cam & Dual valve spring kit. I was looking at possibly getting the TS 228R Cam w/ 112LSA, PRC .650" Dual spring kit with a 7.400" pushrod. Is anybody running a setup like this in their car or know someone who is? Does anyone have any videos or sound clips of the cam?

Im probably going to go with the 224R rather than the 228R so i can run with my stock stall converter. Gonna be running it with the TSP true duals. anyone know the dyno numbers on the 224R? im still hoping for a mean lope with 112LSA.

If I remember correctly TSP told me the 224R is about 5-6rwhp less peak than the 228R. They also said both have the same driveability. I would do the convertver with the 228R if it were me.

stall is easier to change then a cam also. these transmission are so easy to pull its not even funny. On that note I am going to a 228r this summer after a small stint with the ls hotcam.

I'm probably the odd man out but I didn't like the cam at all. It made great power after about 3-3.5K. Granted I was on a 114LSA. Lower would probably help with the bottom end.
I'm not sure if it was the CAM but two different tuners(couple of the best in the US) couldn't eliminate CAM surge in the 1600RPM range. The XE-r lobes are also very aggressive and there are better options out now. The exhaust side tends to be noisy due to the extremely fast ramp rate.

Running an automatic you would need a stall converter to run the 228r cam as it takes away too much vacuum and your car will try to push through the brakes at a stop. This is where the converter comes into play to fix that, not to mention the performance increase alone with the converter. The 224R cam on a 114lsa will work with a stock stall. It will have some chop through headers and dual exhaust but it will be mild. I agree with some of the others that your best performance increase will be with a converter over just the cam alone. Sure it won't have the chop but headers and true duals alone give a very nice rumble at idle even with a stock cam. Don't compromise and get a small cam just to run the stock stall. Get the stall first then when funds allow you can go to a bigger cam and really get the sound and performance that you crave. Also btw, we now have our true duals in polished stainless steel.
