That would probably work well. I assume stock PtV clearance at 58cc? And with the 2.00" valve and 205cc port... torque monster.

The price there isn't bad either... under $2k for CNC ported aftermarket casting that flows 300cfm with good midlift flow.

Exactly, they work well in my brothers car with a cam that wasn't spec'd for those heads. He made 440rwtq 480rwhp and the tq curve isn't very bad considering the large cam with low lsa and the large split. I talked to Martin at Tick a while back, and he spec'd out a cam that I'll probably use for those heads, and hopefully make the power I'm looking for.

Btw, flycutting isn't that bad.
jake, what upgrades you suggest for running that cam? i already have chromoly 7.4 pushrods, ls2 timing chain and gear. btr .660.

thanks

For an LSK lobe?

Really good springs, really stout pushrods (11/32 or 3/8), and lifters that can take a beating. Having stock rockers with the trunion upgrade, PM guides, and lightweight valves would help. Tho with that lift, stock rockers aren't ideal.

I'd do the BTR Max Pressure springs with the LSK lobe. Even with the stock rockers. It's a drag lobe and needs all the control you can muster. I wouldn't go much beyond that tho - too much spring pressure is detrimental to performance. As it is, you'd be on a 6-8k mile service interval with that lobe/spring/rocker combination.

Default I'm about to order these set of heads too..

Hey guys, interesting thread as I had this same question in my head..

I'm ordering the following cam/heads package and have absolutely no idea if they would work together or not, and I don't know anything about flycutting so not planning to.

((AFR LS Chevy 215cc LSX Mongoose 65cc Combustion Chambers and TSP Torquer V.3 643/598 112LSA))

I would give up the heads for this cam so if they don't work together, what other set of heads would work?

Any thoughts, feedback and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Please forgive me but I have to ask, why would you spend what will be substantial money to purchase a set of heads and camshaft, ship them from America (to Australia by your avatar), if you have absolutely no idea if they will work together or not, or if the cam will even fit without milling your pistons potentially hurting your engine?

That's about the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on here, and that's saying a LOT.

You spec the cam AROUND the heads, not the cam first. Stop limiting the potential of those heads.

I agree. That's absurd thinking. The heads are a much bigger investment as well.

Although, the TV3 and some PRC227s would work well. The PRC227s have stock PtV clearance at 62cc so you can still up your compression and run a cam that will work.

I can't seem to find a better cam that sounds and work for me better than the Torquer V.3, hence I will look for different heads if the AFR 215cc won't work, and I know the AFR 215cc is the best in the market but I don't mind losing up to 10hp just to use that cam. I know this might sound stupid to some of you but after all it's a personal choice after all

I'm sure there will be other good heads that will work just fine with this cam, maybe not as good as the AFR 215cc but good enough to gain torque and power.

Thanks for the input, I will be looking into these set of heads you mentioned

I shouldn't even reply again, but as soon as you said "sounds" I already figured it out.

Best bet is to call TSP and see what heads they recommend for that cam. Might even get away with their 2.5 LS6 ported heads.

If the TV3 sounds the best then you haven't looked very hard. I would be very reluctant to recommend it over just about any other cam due to the LSK lobes...
