ls1 with piston pitting
Hi there
Just looking for some points of view on what steps I should take with this wonderful picture I have below.
It's something I found today after cleaning all the carbon off the pistons for a new cam and head install.
It's only on one piston and know it's from Pinging, some of the high n low spot are up to 1mm.
What I'm looking for is are you guys under the impression of a rebuild or wet n dry the piston and install the new heads, I dont want to risk the gear I've just bought, I will stroke it latter in, but wasn't expecting to spend that money now.
Thanks

OTOH, if the cylinder goes lean or the plug gets too hot, you'll get that in only one cylinder.
Unless you're racing, I'd smooth that out and put it back together. But I'd also be looking at other components to find out why that happened.

Looks like a little debris went through. Make sure to check the valve seats. Whatever went through had a good chance to have been grabbed as the valve moved. Get the head surfaced, smooth down the piston and run it.

That's the thing, I mainly use it for the drags now, I was going to get that injector testes aswell, I also though the damage may of been down some time ago.
So ok for the drags?
