Default 136k Concern??

What's up guys. I'm doing a head cam intake setup from advance induction with the fast 92 already have all of the top end of the motor. I want to install it on my 136k mile shortblock but concerned if i will blow something up spin a bearing or something? The cam is big biggest you can run on a stock bottom end custom grind cam with 232cc ported 799 heads and the fast 92 is stock at this point. Would it be a good idea to use the 136k mile shortblock or just rebuild it or buy one that's younger?

Was the biggest cam that will fit recommended or did you want that cam? Big cams normally like to be carried high in the rpm range 6800-7000+. IMO a stock, high milled short block wont like that much, but some people have done it with zero problems. I would get a cam that keeps the rpms a little bit lower and that should help with a higher milled motor.

"biggest on stock bottom end" can mean a wide range of things depending on who is speccing the cam and if they literally send the biggest grind that won't smack valves into pistons or if they assume you don't know what you're doing and actually send you something that will make power at a reasonable RPM

So, why do you want the biggest cam you can fit?

Thats good that your getting the supporting mods, what trans do you have? Do you want a powerful street car or all out track setup? Also try to get an idea on what the cam specs would be, that would help us know how big of a cam they are thinking you need.

Yeah i'm getting everything lifters timing chain oil pump and the list goes on. Have a t56 but thinking of going auto. And a little bit of both the car isn't my daily just a cruiser/racecar. I have the cam specs here you go 234/240-113 .626" grind.

Keeping it under 7k rpm's will be your "safest" bet. definitely upgrade the rod bolts, oil pump, and timing chain while your in there.

Did they say what the recommended rpm range will be? Looks like a fairly big cam that will like some rpm.

If you do all the general stuff like rod bolts, timing chain and oil pump then I dont think there is much to worry about. If you really want to be safe check the rod bearings and if there is any signs of wear then replace them. Generally the large end of the rod wont grow in size unless a bearing spins so you should be good to go. Measure the bearing clearance just to be safe and run it!!
These engine are extremely strong and reliable. There are tons of guys on here that run these hard and have no issues. There are also guys who rebuild every part for peace of mind. I say check it and go from there, keep it as simple as you can.

My cam went in at 130k with new oil pump and timing chain. Spun it to 7k nearly every time I drove it and it never had a problem. That is just my experience

One last thought....Do you know the history of the 136k short block? Compared to buying one with 50,000 miles that you don't know what maintenance has been done.
