Coil pack sides
Made a stupid mistake and got my coil packs mixed up between driver and passenger side. Do they have to be on their designated side or does it not matter?

As long as you didn't unplug the wire pack from the coils you will be fine. My last build I unplugged the coils from the wire pack to clean them up. Then put them back on the car, but accidentally flipped one wire pack over when plugging the coils back in. This caused the firing order on that side to be reversed. There is a specific signal wire on each plug to the coil. A write up here on tech I had found showed which color signal wire went to which cylinder.

The entire coil assembly (bracket, harness & four coils) will freely swap to either side of the engine. The individual coils are identical and will work on any cylinder.

I understand a coil will work on any bracket and any cylinder and i have them wired up correctly. What im asking is if i have the passenger on the drivers side and the drivers on the passenger side is each coil bracket wired to a specific side of the motor for its firing order.

Here is what I found on tech that helped me out greatly.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ck-wiring.html
Paul your info in this thread helped me out so THANK YOU! I have a 98 so my coils had bolted onto the valve cover and when I unplugged them to clean them (before putting them on my new 99 and up brackets/valve covers for my 241 heads) I accidentally flipped the wiring on the passenger side. So instead of 1,3,5,7...it was reversed 7,5,3,1.
Baron if you left the coils on the bracket exactly like Paul pictured and only unplugged the big white plug (and left the smaller plugs on the coils) then yes the passenger side will work on the driver side. Just look at "C" on the plug that goes to the coil, that is going to be the signal wire for each cylinder. As long as you have this you will be fine:
1- purple, 3- light blue, 5-green, 7-red
2- red, 4- green, 6- light blue, 8- purple
