Difference between the 5.3 and 5.7
Difference between the 5.3 and 5.7 What is the difference between the engines as far as a swap? I have a 02 camaro I'm thinking of doing the swap and adding boost mostly because the ls1 in it is blown up and I'd like to do a boost build anyway so noes the time. What would be a good setup and what would I need to swap/ change around to make the 5.3 work before the boost?
Going to state the obvious but don't use the 5.3 MAF...it's different. You're going to have to bolt on the LS1 style intake unless you are going to run a hood scoop which also means LS1 style injectors. 5.3s have a different electrical plug in. Internally, the 5.3 has a smaller cam and a smaller bore. AND you're going to have to live with 88 more pounds on the front end if it's an iron 5.3.
