Default Head decision...

Looking for first hand opinions on budget heads (OK I'm cheap) around $1500. Car in sig w/TR230 cam. Looking at these so far:
1. Livernois stage 2 243's http://www.livernoismotorsports.com/...der-Heads.html
2. PRC stage 2.5 LS6 http://texas-speed.com/c-47-cylinder...ID=0&pagenum=1
3. PRC as cast 225
4. AI HCR 219cc @ 11:1 (I have a spare set of 241's so down time is not an issue) http://www.advancedinduction.com/LSX...RGMLS1Head.php

Leaning toward #4 as it includes pushrods and gaskets (but I have to ship both ways) Let 'er rip guys.

I'm by no means an expert on this stuff, but from everything I hear AI makes some top of the line stuff. I live by Livernois as well, and they are pretty damn good as well

Livernois all the way based on that list.

My head decision came down to TEA and Livernois in the end.

Also, a good read comparing the AFR 205s, Livernois LS6s, and TFS 215s: http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...ylinder_heads/

And I was thinking with #4 the extra 1 pt. bump in compression would help with torque...

You just get the cam spec'd for the compression you have and it'll make the same torque or better (with better airflow, it'll make more power and torque).

Compression is just part of the overall combo.

Keeping current cam for now.
I thought bumping compression would benefit everywhere...

It can unless you're running the ragged edge already. Then bumping just forces you to higher octane.

In reality, the TR230 is a cam that will work fine with 11:1 CR. Going much beyond that has diminishing returns. A much bigger cam would work better with more compression.

5. LS1Tech Classifieds.

That's where I scored AFR 205's for like 1400, I can't remember. There's good deals all the time in there. Just giving you another option.

Our cylinder heads speak for themselves. We have repeated consistent results over and over again. Give us a call or send a pm and we can get you set up.

Any more real world experience with just head swap w/your current cam?
I'm more concerned with ET than dyno number. But if you have back to back numbers I'll like to know. Thanks,

OK narrowed it down to #1 or #4. What ya'll think?? They are within $100 of each other.
Anyone know the expected CR on #1 with the ".010-.015" surface milling?

I'd really take a look at landspeed development

Just took a quick look, didn't see pricing. You suggesting sending one of my 241 sets? Don't think it would be cost effective to source some 243's and ship to them.

He can get castings for you if needed. He is in the process of updating the site, but I would definitely give him a call or shoot a email. He knows his stuff if nothing else he will share some insight. He takes what you want and your goals and does the heads specifically to your setup.

AI is the best of the factory head world. Step up to their 799s or 243s since your budget is $1500. The port work is $200 less for their 243/799s, so your halfway to 243/799s already.

I believe that is a matter of opinion.. My porter is within 5-10 hp than aftermarket casting heads.

No ****.

I have never seen AI heads NOT make power though and I have seen many cars run em.

On my car I eclipsed 460 rwhp with a baby 226/230 114 cam and a fast 90.
