few ?s on small mods
i was looking at MAF, under drive pulley, 160* thermostat, is any of this worth doing and if so which ones are the best. i was looking at a MAF but then ive seen some cars that have h/c/i and it doesnt look like they have a MAF. i plan on doing heads and cam soon just trying to get all the little things done till i get everything to do heads and cam. im new to this so i appreciate any help. im just trying to get as much power out of it now so i know ill beat my brother that has a 97 mustang that has some mods he wants to race for some cash soon so im trying to get some more power out of my car, im about to order gears and will be getting it tuned shortly. i do not want to spray the car, thanks

Don't waste your time on a maf. you can see how many people are running a stock maf. its said they can handle around 500hp. Underdrive pulley is a must when you do heads and cam. Now its not really going to do anything trust me I didn't and didn't gain crap on a bolt on car. Ive been running a stock thermostat since ive owned the car and I honestly would even change it. I would deff consider a ram air setup for your right now like stated above. You will see gains on the top end with that. put the other money toward heads and cam set up. As for throttle body I wouldn't bother porting it unless you are not deciding on going with a fast setup

ok with what i have plus 4.10s, a ported tb, ram air, and udp. do u guys think ill be able to beat my brother, i know everyone bashes mustangs and i have drove his car i think my car pulls harder, but i have $300 down on this race i know its not a lot of money its just the bragging rights. from what i know about the car it has gears and most of the bolt ons its a 97 gt that use to be super charged but the previous owner took the super charger off after he wrecked it and my brother bought the car.

my plans for the car is to do a fast 102 intake and a tb, 243 heads and brian tooley N/A cam with 4.10's, but i know he wont race me with a cam in my car so right now while i can still make some money and have bragging rights im just trying to squeeze out as much power as i can while trying to hide it i dont see my brother often but if i pull up with my car loping he wont race me so just trying to do the small things to just try and make sure i can take him

so should i even change the gears lol either way i want to im just debating now whether to do it with my own money or his after i beat him lol thanks guys but on a serious note what should be my next mods to before heads and cam im trying to have everything else done so i can just get the heads and cam done and take it to get tuned and everything else is done. im going to have it tuned shortly is it ok to run 42lb injectors before i have heads and cam if i have it tuned. and which is the best ram air kit i saw something called a super something its open like 2" till u hit 50 then it open 4-5" is something like that necessary or worth it?

Yes keep the 42's as they will be perfect when you do the heads and cam. They can easily be tuned for your current mods as well. The SSRA or Chris1313 are your best choices for a ram air. You don't need the gears to pull this off, but it will be much more fun if you do get them...especially with a nice HCI combo

To be honest you should destroy that car now as long as you can drive half way decent. Ram airs are around $200 from a few different sponsors. Don't buy the slp on not worth it. look into the ssra or the chris1313 ram air kit. both are quality and have been proven. make sure you order the one if you have a/c in your car and keeping it or the one that has the a/c delete if you are getting rid of the a/c
