A bit off topic but I was under the assumption that our state stated any aftermarket exausht is illegal, unless is a factory replica/replacement?

And I've never been checked for cats before during a state inspection, at least I never saw them check.

Very interesting build. Looks VERY similar to my own personal car (396 LS6) minus a couple points in compression and I'm on premium pump gas. I'll be interested to see how it does. Cam is almost identical to mine. I'd strongly suggest a cutout at the Y-merge as that loudmouth system will be holding you back.

Not true. It might state that but in practice isn't enforced. I've had my LM1 and headers on for a couple years with no issues.

I am contemplating using a 4" mufflex catback instead of a cutout or True Duals eventually. However I might consider a cutout.

Just because it isn't enforced doesn't mean it's legal. I do agree that he's a bit paranoid. Anything done to the engine in most states is illegal and for OFF ROAD use only. Just slip the inspector a hundy and get that sticker.

If they don't look for cats, then how the hell do they tell if the exhaust is stock or aftermarket?

Didn't say it was legal I said it isn't enforced. Although I didn't know they don't check for cats as I never paid much attention to that.

Looks nice. My WS6 came with the LS6 block from the factory.

I wish mine had but seeing as it is a 98 that is not possible. But I got a good deal on the shortblock, $350.

Yeah, good deal for sure. I was pretty excited when I found out mine had the LS6 block.

If you don't wish to go true duals then the 4" mufflex would be your best choice other than a cut out. I recommend the single in/out 4" system that dumps behind the bumper and not the dual. You can fake out a set of tips out the back and no one would probably ever know that the exhaust isn't run to the tips.

I might do that. I will have some time to figure out the exhaust though since the engine isn't even built yet.

I am using Lonnies Double pumper fuel system which is two racetronix fuel pumps and 95# Deatschwerks fuel injectors. I do believe the pistons have valve reliefs.

Ahh, good to hear. I see loud cars around Hampton all the time, including a lot of cars that have dumped exausht.
