It is a typo. IIRC, the 3.90" small bore heads come with 2.10" intake valves.

If they use an LS7 valve spacing, I don't think they would even physically fit in the bore. Even with an LS1 valve spacing, they would barely even clear.

I wish you the best on this build but in 2014 I see zero appeal in building a 3.9 bore based engine w/ a big stroker crank. With the abundance of 4" bore combos they're such a more rounded platform. I'd hate to see someone spend all this money then have to scrap it should anything happen to the block. Now you're sitting on a bunch of undesirable parts (gigantic crank/3.903 pistons).

Been there done that....never again

Pointless post. Noted but I didn't ask your opinion on whether you would do it or not. Informative posts only please, I have decided what I am doing so your opinion in that regard is irrelevant (doing a 396 or not). The only things that would need replacing if I went with a bigger bore are the pistons and block. Not really that much of a waste. Plus I can't afford the 4.185" bore build I eventually want at this time so working with what I have works and my engine needed a rebuild anyways.

I'm not trying to knock what you're doing as I went down that route in 2006 and if given the opportunity to do it over again I wouldn't. My thought is if you're trying to build a really high compression extremely long stroke combo in a Gen 1 block could be problematic (small pistons/oil consumption etc).

You're going to be very happy with AI's port work. Which CNC option are you going with?

Post up some pics once you get them back. The port work on my AI Dart/RHS heads was pretty awesome.

Will do. I am trying to decide if I should go with the trunion upgrade or roller rockers with my set up.

I'd go the trunion upgrade route.

Cool it's cheaper anyways. Now it's time to order my Kooks 2" headers. I still haven't totally figured what I am doing with that. Whether I am going y pipe and 4" mufflex or duals. The mufflex isn't stainless steel so I might just do a cutout or duals. There is a custom exhaust shop near me so I might see if they can make true duals or 4" version of my LM1 for a reasonable price but in stainless steel.

I would do duals without hesitation. I'm sure that exhaust shoo could fab up a nice setup for you.

The shop near me just got back to me apparently they don't have a mandrel bender....but there is one further south, about an hour or so that does so I'll see what they can do. Hopefully they can make me some duals for less than the Kooks if not I'll just bite the bullet and get the Kooks TDs.

Why not the Texas Speed True Duals. I have them and really like them. Mandrel bent, full 3" and a great price.

My headers will be 3.5" collectors or at least I think the Kooks headers have a 3.5" collector with the 2" primaries otherwise I would. Are the TSP ones stainless? Unless I go with 1 7/8 headers instead of 2".

They are not stainless, but mine look as new as the day I put them on. My car is not a daily driver though and it never sees rain or snow. Couldn't you run a reducer off the headers?

I could but then why run the 2" headers with 3.5" collectors? Mine is not a daily driver either so stainless probably isn't necessary. According to their site it is stainless though just in the 3"...damn.

Yeah, I agree, but was just throwing out that option. Sounds like you are doing a "no expenses spared" build, so just go with the Kooks duals.

To a point anyways lol but I do feel the price of the Kooks is ridiculous, ws6tore although has them for under $1600 for the catted version. I'll get the headers and then figure it out from there as to what I do which is either have TDs fabbed up or just go with Kooks TDs.
