Default ATI Damper issue

After sitting on my ATI Blem damper for all of last year I finally got around to putting it on this past week. Everything was going fine until I went to put the new damper on and it slid right onto the snout with no issue what so ever. I am going to call ATI on Monday as it should be a press fit. Wondering if anyone has a crank or hub in box to compare my measurements to.

I am using part number 917266

Stock Balancer measured 1.4780
Snout on the Hub 1.4825
ATI 1.4830

Looking at some other specs on the ATI site it looks like the pin kit is 1.4375 so it looks my micrometer may be a bit off. But the fact remains the same that the ATI damper will not press fit onto my crank. The factory hub would require me to press is back on. It doesnt want to go by hand

Thoughts? Do I have a hub from another LS base engine in my Blem box?

It definitely goes on easier than stock but it is still an interference fit.

Yeah I can spin this freely on the snout. I even torqued the old bolt to 250 to see if it wasnt seated and as soon as I took the bolt back out it was free again.

You do have the correct part #(917266) for a OEM diameter dampener, but either the hub has been changed from the #916032-M3 it should have, or it's been machined, or damaged.
Either way you need a new #916032-M3 hub.

Your first sentence says it's a BLEM. Now you know what the blem was. It was machined too big.

If he bought it directly from ATI, they should warranty it. Sometimes ATI sells BLEM dampner on ebay, but it would state that they would warranty it if there is something wrong with the dampner. I got one from them, the dampner has some discoloration, but other than that everything is good.

Yeah I got it from their EBay blem sale. However I bought it last June so I am not expecting to much. I overnighted a second hub that I can always return if they send me one or swap it out, just need to get the car back on the road for a trip next weekend.

Oh ok, yah I would give them a call and I'm sure they would take care of you. It is under warranty, so I don't see any issue sending you the right hub for it.

Spoke with Rick Hults and he is sending me a new hub to use. I did overnight one from Amazon just to get the car back on the road though Rick was awesome to deal with and even checked the size of the hub he is sending me against what measurments I had to ensure the next one was good.

A+ for customer service on ATI's part, even 6 months after purchase they did good which I wasnt planning on with the way companies are now-a-days. (thus my hasty purchase of a second hub)
