Default Valve spring height

Setting up spring height after valve job, these are the measurements I got using a valve spring height checker with valve seals, retainers, and keepers in place. I also have added up the shims I will need to bring me to 1.800 installed height within .005. Pretty sure I have measured and added right but wanted to make sure. I will use "Alex' parts" for the shims unless there is a place I can get some hardened shims from locally ie; carquest, oreileys, napa. Let me know what y'all think.

What is the setup? If the springs are beehive, make sure they are sitting flush with the top of the micrometer, i.e., the beehive retainer may sit inside the top of the micrometer throwing off the measurements. Yours seem too high, even if the valve were set a little deeper.

Default Setup

199-PRC1518 springs, stock retainers/locks. Stock Umbrella type valve seals. This is the micrometer I'm using and a pic with the retainer in it.

Default I'm a tool with the wrong one

Pretty sure I am using the wrong tool, used a micrometer and it looks like there is a .125 difference between the valve mic's top, and the recess my valve spring retainer sits in. So when I subtract that from my measurements they look much better. Thought I would post this incase someone else goofed like I did.

It's happened before. I made a shim to fill in the gap on mine. However, you can also just subtract like you have done.
