Default Difference in GM LS7 Lifters

Looking at lifters. does anyone know the difference between the LS7 12499225 and the GM performance 88958689 lifters?

If those are the ones I am thinking of they are the same. Individual versus a set for part numbers

You should be able to get them cheaper then that at your local Chevrolet dealer, I know I can. I think texas speed is 139 if I am not mistaken. When you order them though be sure to order a full set and pay as a full set. I was told at my Chevy dealer that they are the same lifter but priced either individually or as a set. Same lifters - but I quit buying parts off eBay.

GM parts direct has them listed as separate part#'s of 16 lifters each...

I don't think they are the same lifters.

I was just doing a search and found the 2 different parts numbers. The gm performance part set for 299 is from Summit Racing. Not going to buy them from ebay just checking pricing.

17122490. That is the pn for a single GM lifter which is used in all LS engines now (save for the 8 different ones used in the AFM engines). It is the single pn for the "ls7 lifter set". The 8689 pn in question are the "Caddy Race" lifter set.

And yes, we can match the price from SD on the ls7 lifters. They have been working very well since...well really 2005 right? There is no doubt there are better lifters out there, but for mild cam lobes they work very well and for high mileage vehicles they are a no brainer. Most of the used cams out there you will find barely have lift over .600 and the lobes are nowhere near the LSL and up type of ramp rate, so they work pretty good. Most people use them for everything and get by. We sure do not recommend that, but it is being done.

We do have other lifters as well. The lunati drop ins and the Lunati tie bars are very well priced and very good quality.

Here they are, just under a different part number. We've got these at an introductory price and then BAM, it goes up.

I like the sound of those Morel drop ins! I was about ready to buy a set of ls7 from my local dealer but may grab these Morel lifters while you are offering a special. How much better would you rate the Morel over the ls7 lifter for a xer lobes G5x3 cam?

Link is correct.

The Morel is conservatively good for 7Kish while the LS7 is around 6Kish.

They are a very good option, and most people do not know about them. They are still a "street" version with the captured roller, but a better option to the LS7 indeed.

For those that may not know, the LS lifter is exactly the same as what is used in the LT1s and Vortec engines.
