Couldn't tell from the sound clip, but did the ticking increase when the rpms increase?

Leaks are never really obvious. Take out all the header bolts and retorque them in the proper order. Do you have block off plates for EGR or AIR? Check those. If it is at the collector, than I'm not sure cause I don't know how you have it hooked up.

Another thing is that my car developed a ticking sound like that but not as loud 3 days ago. It took me until today to figure out it was a loose spark plug wire. It somehow worked it's way a little loose. Since you have had the heads off, I know you've had the plugs/wires off as well. Recheck all those connections.

Good luck!
