Usually people use studs for boosted motors. If your going with bolts, you should get ARP or similiar since they are reusable, if you take your heads off agian they have paid for themselves.

Which do you prefer? Which can you afford?

If you ever need to remove the heads for any reason down the road, you don't need to take the studs out, so no cleaning the bejeezus out of bolt holes again.

Personally I'd go with studs.

Really need way more info...what's it going in...???

In some applications studs can make it almost impossible to remove the heads in the vehicle...

I am running bolts simply because if i EVER have to do a head removal in car...you can't really do that in a camaro with studs. at least not comfortably....if at all...

That being said if all goes well my 408 will be studded. because 'murica and f&$k you. thats why.

Absolutely not true. At all. I've had mine off 4 times in the past and they just come straight up. I even had Spohn solid motor mounts which raise the motor about a half inch.

i think people forget that the studs do come out... i've taken heads off of an Fbody that were studded. take the 4 studs out in the back of the head after you loosen the nuts.makes it alot easier to get the heads off. studs are not much longer then bolts.

Says he is putting it in a truck so clearance issues would be a complete non-issue even beyond those who have used studs saying it isn't a big deal.

As I understand it the LS engines bores are not as sensitive as older engines were but I would still use whatever fasteners the engine was machined with. Again the LS bores are not as sensitive to this as a gen 1 or 2 engine but I would think the mains would be similar. Fasteners distort the area they are torqued into and the amount of torque can distort the area varying amounts too.
