What do I need to put 5.3L heads on my 98?
I have a 98 Trans Am, and was curious what all would be needed to put 5.3 or 4.8L heads on my 98, whcih has the 5.7L heads with the perimeter valve covers.
Obviously I would need new valve covers (anyone know the part numbers for them?). I think I need new coil brackets, would I need new coils too? What else? Thanks.

All you need is the new valve covers and coil mounting brackets. When I did my install I spaced out that the valve covers were changed in 99 that backed up my install when the motor was being put together.

Thats what I thought...does anyone happen to have the part numbers of the 99+ valve covers and coil brackets?
And I'm assuming the same head gasket can be used for the 98 and 99+ heads?

In case someone else is interested in this, I came home and looked up the part numbers for this stuff in the F-body parts manual. Heres the breakdown:
12559894 - Left Valve Cover (99-00)
12561819 - Right Valve Cover (99-00)
12559893 - Valve Cover Bolt
12562864 - Ingnition Coil Bracket
I went to GMPartsDirect and put everything in my car with correct quantities, and the total came to $121.43. I think I'll just stick with my 98 heads.
