Default Camshaft ****

I just got my cam in from Ed @ FTI and I'm very happy. No specs for now but it's just nice to see workmanship like this.

I would rather wait until this is going together. It will be a fun project. As a customer of Ed you are in very good hands. My project has been slowly moving and seeing this really made my day. This is going in a c5.

Right section and right cam. It's a gen III/IV cam.

The base circle seems smaller than normal. Fine, keep the cam specs secret if you like, but spill the beans on the design. Whats the lifter/pushrod/rocker/head setup?

Or change the title to "camshaft tease". Lol

That cam does look a bit odd for an LS camshaft.

I've owned three custom Ed Curtis, FTI, camshafts; all for LSx, and none of mine looked like that. I'm very interested now. Where was the cam ground? Comp or Lunati?

Definitely not from China. The cam is a tight lash solid roller that is ground from an 8620 core from LSM Engineering. It does have a reduced base circle so more lobe lift can be achieved. The copper is commonly seen on the 8620 cores. I will divulge more as the project comes together. Ed @ FTI is a great person to work with and I'm glad that I got him involved in my project.

Yeah, I guarantee none of Ed's cams are ground there.

I'm really interested to hear more about this build. Like what heads, cubic inch, compression, valve train components, desired RPM range, street or strip, etc. I'll be following this for more info.

I have the exposed copper on my EPS/Cam Motion 8620 core cam as well. Very good material.

I hope to have it completed by mid July. I have a majority of it done but there are a few items I need to purchase. Funds are a little tight but I'm still making progress. Pushrod are the next buy item.

Good to hear. I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out. How much consulting with Ed did you have regarding the whole build?

Update:
I received my pushrods which will allow me to finish the longblock. I've never been so happy to get pushrods. I went with Trend 7/16-3/8 double taper .125 wall & 210* radius tip. These things dwarf a regular ls pushrod. That is a 5/16 7.650 next to mine. I'm happy that I'm making progress but it's slow. I degreed the cam and everything was spot on installed straight up.
