Taking the block to the machine shop today. In case anyone was wondering, an ls1 block fits in a GTO trunk just fine.

You might know already, but when you put the windage tray back on your going to have to space it out, don't know what I was thinking when I put mine together, put my oil pan on then turned the crank and it wouldn't turn, would help if the rods weren't hitting the tray

HA! Yeah, I read that it needs to have a few washers spacing it out.

I'm curious what kind of ring recommendations I can get for this, steel or plasma moly. Its not a super high hp build, but compression should be over 11:1. Maybe, maybe, maybe a small shot of spray if it ever stops being my dd.

Ring gap will be more critical than material for under 150 shots. Proper machining goes a VERY long way too. If you buy the best pistons/rings out there and the machine work is not up to par, itll screw everything up. The machine shop i personally use has always put out quality and sets the ptb up so I dont have to worry about blowby/extra cc pressure and the need for a catch can.

The odds of me actually spraying it at some point are really pretty slim. Do those few thousandths of extra gap mean much as far as normal driving goes? I have forgotten the specs on my vette motor, but I would assume it was gapped a little wider for boost. Didn't notice any difference with that. Can I ask what PTB you use for N/A and what you use for spray? I'm pretty much going off the two LSx building books.

It is all based off of bore size, ring style/material, etc. Every company has their own specs and so does every machinist. It can mean the difference in blowby really if you were to fudge a bit for something you might do but never do.
I dont use the engine building books. Every setup is different as well. The cast iron blocks sleeves will expand differently than the alum blocks will, so that has to be taken into account as well.
I would follow the directions from the piston company that they have in their instructions. Every machinist has their ways just like tuning. That way if anyone is at fault, it isnt you.

Its probably not worth the shortcomings then. So Plasma gapped to manuf spec for n/a should be fine. I guess I will end up with those Mahle power pak pistons. I just wish they were -2cc instead of -4cc. I have read some discussions about changing the combustion chamber by milling, so I'm trying not to mill them down very much.

2cc will not make as big a difference in the power/cr as getting a thinner head gasket will make more difference and show better gains. The quench gained will be worth it if you can justify the price difference,

I'm having to redo my build, have way to much blowby, and I don't run nitrous enough to justify having a large ring gap, and tired of blowing the dipstick out the hole

Anyone have an LS2 timing set for sale so I don't have to wait to swap mine over? LS7 lifters ok for this build?

We have complete billet ls2 sets. Lifters will depend on cam lobes and spring pressures. We have our ls7s on sale still. Def use an HP melling pump

OK, I finally ordered the bottom end!

Lets talk about the fuel system. I would really like to use those white Bosch GTP injectors. As I understand it they will fit an LS2 manifold withut height adapters? What about plugging into an LS2 harness? I'm pretty sure I can use the stock fuel pump.

I have seen quite a few gto pumps not up to snuff on ls3 top end cars even.
We can have your ls2 injectors resized and they will be better than the gtp injectors but you may not need a whole lot more injector. They sit around the 32# size already.

So I have it backwards then? I need a pump or BAP instead of injectors most likely?

I would stay away from a fuel pump voltage booster ideally. Lingenfelter has a nice drop in kit for the GTOs.
You have injectors that will likely work up to a decent power level already, no need to spend extra money on them unless you need to IMO.
