02 z28 idle drops to 400 then will go back up to 650. any ideas out there?

You will probably get more responses in either PCM Diagnostics & Tuning or External sections. Assuming you are not throwing any codes (check engine light) I would start by check for vacuum leaks and cleaning the MAF with an MAF cleaner (e.g. CRC MAF cleaner).
