Default spark plug broke off in motor

So as the title says, my spark plug on the back drivers side broke off in the motor and punched a hole threw the piston and messed the head up pretty good.

so from previous experience's can it be rebuilt, or should i just look for a new short block and head.

also the cylinder wall seemed to have no damage some how.

Wow. The spark plug broke off and fell INTO the combustion chamber?

As the cylinder wall aren't damaged, I'd say the block is fine.

BUT it looks like the spark plug went THROUGH the piston. You'll need to make sure it didn't do any damage inside the crank case.

If it's all fine underneath, heads & pistons is what's needed. You can use your block for the re-build.

Wow it even looks like the threads made marks going through the piston... I would be more concerned as to how the entire bottom half of a spark plug ended up fitting through a hole designed to just have the threads in the head and still manage to have perfect threads once it was inside. Stripped spark plug hole?
New pistons and head. Might as well bump compression while putting in pistons or put on a different set of heads

WTF this doesn't make any sense... judging from the hole in the piston, there was at least 3/4" of thread. How does the steel threaded portion sparkplug break off of the rest, then unscrew itself INTO the combustion chamber? Im not saying you're lying, Im just dumbfounded as to how this could have happened.

is it possible it had the wrong plugs with too many threads in the engine?

post a picture of the part number and/or the other plugs from the engine

I would definitely get a new cylinder head, but the block looks like it could probably be salvaged. Take it apart and have it looked over by a reputable machine shop.

The heads can be repaired. But if they're stock heads and nothing special, you're probably better off replacing it.

A damaged block can probably be sleeved.

BUT... the rotating assembly is another story. The hole was punched in the piston by trapping the chunk of spark plug between the head and the piston. That transmits a lot of force down through the connecting rod and into the crank.

You'll probably have to replace the connecting rod. Have the crank checked for straightness. If it's a stock crank and it's not straight, replace it. Again, it can be repaired. But unless it's something special, why bother?
