Default My rotating assembly is hard to turn once the rods are torqued down. Suggestions?

Last year I had a bad cam bearing in my motor (LS1 block, forged 347) so I pulled it and had the block all checked and a new cam bearings installed.

Well, I got around to installing the crank, rods and pistons yesterday. When I installed the crank and torqued down the mains it spun very easily and freely. After I installed the pistons and rods it was a bitch to turn. It's the same rotating assemble that came out of it. I didn't change anything since the motor only had 150 miles on it before the cam bearing went bad.

I pulled the rod end caps back off and the crank moved very easily again. Reinstalled the rod end caps and torqued them down and it was a pain in the ***. I can't find anything binding at all. Is it supposed to be this much of a pain in the *** to turn over on a new motor or do you guys think I am ******* something up?

Nope, same rod bearings. Same ARP rod bolts. I also thought it should rotate fairly easily. I feel like I've had these damn rod caps on and off about 30 times trying to figure out the issue.

Are all of the piston alignment marks facing the front of the block?

I'll check this at lunch time.

63 lbs is what Scat has on their spec sheet. So that is what I have been torquing them too. I made sure all the caps were numbered with the rods. So they should all be correct.

Well I am sure this is my damn problem. I some how installed Pistons 2,4,6,8 into 1,3,5,7's spot. It's official, I shouldn't drink beer and wrench on my car.

Although I did notice that only 4 of the pistons have front marks on them. The other 4 do not. My old Wiseco pistons all had arrows on them. Not sure why these aren't like that.

All is right in the world again, got the rotating assembly back together today and torqued and it takes about 13 lbs to spin the whole assembly.
