5k miles on MTI S1 cam (244/244 @612). Driven hard with 50+ passes & lots of WOT on the street. They are MTI dual spring kit that I've been running for 1.5 years. Iam planning to replace them at 10k miles, but will consult MTI first.

As you see I don't have many miles on the springs, but they've been installed for a long time now (1.5 years). I don't know whether I should consider the mileage or the time since installed factor when it comes to replacing valve springs. What do you guys think?

I went 14k miles on single Erson valvesprings with titanium retainers, 4 or 5 trips to the track and daily driver (with an occasional, well frequent romp on the way to work).

Just had a new set of Erson singles put in with my engine refresh, just to be on the safe side. They're holding up great.

Rob, did you have your cam doctored? I'm pretty sure if still have Mark's cam that they were all from Cam Motion.

If my lil ole POS 987's can do it this long, a good set of Cranes should go 40K easy....

A properly setup valvetrain, good springs(good seat pressure, ~360-400 open), and properly adjusted valves should last a long time regardless of the cam lobe (unless of course you're doing something retarded big).
I was unaware that there were any more aggressive lobes than XE-R. What are your cam specs?

Kyle,
Your .600 is not that much more than my .588
And Terry told me that I should be good to 50K.

The spring manufacturer has told me that .580-600 lift is not stressing the spring at all.The spring is designed to run at .650 lift everyday, not just handle .650 lift like some springs claim. The manufacturing process that goes into making this spring is the best available, besides all out Pro Stock,Winston Cup type springs. That would run the cost way up.I still recommend periodic checks of the springs pressure. The manufacturer tells us that the spring will have a long life, better than what other springs in this application has lasted before.

Damian, are you sure about that? I was told by Allan @ Futral a couple weeks ago that the Cam Motion lobes are somewhere between the Comp XE and the XE-R as far as the agressiveness goes.
