I already did a search and found most people using this cam were 6speed and mostly vette guys. Anyone ever use this as a cam only setup for a stalled auto? Alot of people were saying the g5x3 were similar to ms3 but made more torque and also seen the driveability wasn't that impressive at slower speeds, true? Again looking for some auto guys

I had one in my head/cam car but I was also a 6 speed. 2000 formula, 3,650 lb. race weight, stock bottom end, the old MTI (Houston) LS6 heads and 4.10s. Ran a best of 11.39 at 123.60. Drivability wasn't too good but I didn't have a good tune either. I'm not an auto guy but was told that an auto does better with big cams (drivability).

I have a G5x3 sitting on my shelf, i ran it for one season and loved it. I swapped for a solid roller. As stated above the drivability wasn't that great, had some cam surge but could've been the tune. I ran an 11.90 at 118 on a terrible track with no prep and stock heads. I am also a 6 spd though. I wouldn't be afraid to use this cam with a decent convertor and an auto.

The vette guys love this cam but I simply attribute that to the pricing and market of the LG cams.

Driveability is in the tune...i had one and loved it! Best all around n/a cam for stock cubes...good power everywhere. I have a friend with a g5x3 112 in a stock bottom end LS1 with AI 243's, Fast 92mm, and through a stalled 4L80E made 442rwhp. great cam! I had the X3 in a stock bottom end LQ9 with L92 heads and stock LS3 intake, through a 6spd and made 446/405 to the tires with excellent driveability.
