Default #7 cylinder melted side of piston

I have an 02 ls1 that melted #7 piston when I took engine out and disassembled it I didn't see any damage in cylinder so I ordered a standard engine kit I then put top ring in cylinder to check end gap to find it at .035 so my question is since that is only cylinder that is wore could I get away with installing a .010 oversized set of rings and grind to fit them or will I have other problems

Melted #7 is fairly common when you're running on the lean side. I'd look at the AFR. If you get your injectors flow rated always put the richest one on #7. Don't understand why that cylinder would have "grown". Have you measured the bore besides comparing to that ring?

That's .011 over. Measure the other cylinders too. Something is up with that engine.

Ask JE. They have specs for such.

How could you buy pistons without knowing your clearances?
