Which heads to go with a GT2-3 cam?
Getting ready to install the cam mentioned. Just curious on head recommendations. 2002 Z28 that is my daily driver. Have long tubes to install and it has a gmmg exhaust. That's it. Everything else is stock with 38k miles on the clock. It's an automatic as well. Car will probably never see track time. Never been able to tinker with any of my vehicles and going to start with this one. Not looking to make crazy power, just the best budget set of heads that would be a good balance between power and cost.

Seeing as the car will never see track time and your looking for purely a street car I would do 1 of two things. Either pick up a set of 243 heads and perform a valve job on them and then run them or hand port or valve job the heads you have. Just all depends on the budget you have to work with. Something like the PRC stage 1 ls6 heads aren't a bad option either if your looking to spend more.

Thanks for the input! Actually have a shop that could do some head work if needed and they do really good work. 243's wee my first choice. Was also curious if the 5.3l heads are an option? I believe going with those raises compression a little.

243 is a better head and with medium sized cams the extra compression advantage of the 5.3 head is useless because you can mill the 243 heads down enough to match it. Even if you did just some bowl work and a VJ to the 243 heads they have the potential to make 420+ to the tire. The 5.3 head requires a full port job to be competitive with a 243.

Sweet man. Looks to be identical to what i will be running. Do you regret at all not upgrading the heads more? I am torn right now because the car only has 36k miles on it. Basically still new. LOL.
Also, how is your mpg(in town and hwy)?

For the cost (well under $2K) I run the PRC Stage 2.5 LS6 CNC Ported Heads.
I'd go with 61-62cc chambers if you go with a .045" head gaskets, or 60cc chambers with factory thickness gm .051"gaskets. Both will be right under 11.0:1 SCR, and right under 8.6 DCR with the GT2-3 cam (207/218, 118.5 lsa-1). The intake lobes have a aggressive ramp rate of 47, so I'd recommend you at least use GOOD beehive valve springs like the PAC-1219 or 1219X, or go with BTR dual springs

Guessing these wouldn't be a good match?
"pair of cnc'd LS1 241 assembled cyclinder heads. These heads and valves are slightly used that have been disassembled, cnc'd, pressure tested, mulit angle valve job, blended seats, surfaced to 65cc's, refaced and lapped valves, and assembled with new GM beehive springs, retainers, locks and seals. They have the stock valves installed in them 2.000 intake and 1.550 exhaust."

Nothing wrong with a set of ported 241 heads if they have matching spring hardware for your cam or you plan installing them when you get them. I like to buy heads bare if I can help it and put all the components I need for my combination on the head.
