Katech Chain / Adjustable Sprockets?
Katech Chain / Adjustable Sprockets? I have a 2006 LQ9 that i'm building.
Can someone please lead me in the direction of what I should do or who will have adjustable crank sprocket for the Katech timing chain.
I would like to use the Katech Timing chain if possible but I want to advance my TU2 cam 4 degrees as Brian Tooley recommended.
The machinist I spoke with wants one that doesn't have any extra parts and is adjustable in 2 degree increments.
Any help or thoughts?

I am running the Cloyes Hex-Adjust and the IRL chain. Best setup they ever made. I personally wouldn't go to the double and they are not infallible either (there have been breakages of those too).

If you don't have the C5R chain yet, you can get the Cloyes Adustable Timing Set with the C5R chain on it for like $245-250. The Hex-A-Just is 275-280. But the regular 3-way or 9-way are in the 245-250 range and offer 2 degree adjustments.
I have the Rollmaster Double and it wasn't bad to install. I didn't have to clearance anything and it lined up fine. I did buy an oil pump that was pre-clearanced for the chain which helped.

You'll want the Cloyes with the 9-keyway Crank Sprockets. It offers the most foolproof method to adjust the ICL. Which is what your machinist is recommending you get. It allows for up to +8* advance/retard in 2* increments at the crank, which equals up to +4* advance/retard in 1* increments at the cam.

I'll just pick up this kit and attempt to sell the chain with the 2 sprockets. It'll all be new so hopefully someone can benefit from it.

I purchased the C5R chain probably 2 weeks before the release of the C7R lol FML! That's how this stuff works but that's alright it's an amazing chain.
I'll just pick up this kit and attempt to sell the chain with the 2 sprockets. It'll all be new so hopefully someone can benefit from it.

I use the Cloyes Hex a just & C5R chain....a C5R chain hasn't been broken yet while racing.
Fit the LS2 damper with the Trick flow bracket if your block isn't drilled or if drilled there is another damper option available, 'search'

DreamKA, make sure you're getting the right one since Cloyes also
offers the 9-3658TX9 which seem to work in the same applications. I'm not sure what the difference is(if any) so make sure before buying one or the other.

I just coupled the Katech C5R chain with the JP Adjustable LS2 timing set and it worked very well. Barely any slack without a dampener and the LS2 dampener fit great and eliminated any slack.
