Stock Lq9 with 54-446-11 Comp Cam. Good Choice?
So i'm getting near the end of my e36 bmw swap project. It's a stock LQ9 with 317 heads. I'm thinking of using the comp cam 54-446-11.
It's 232/234 duration 0.595 int./0.598 exh. Lift.
I think this is a pretty aggressive cam for this application, but I think it will run well and I'm pretty confident i won't have PTV clearance issues.
What does everyone think? Any estimates on power? I'll be running long tubes with 1-3/4" primaries with a full 2.5" dual exhaust. Unfortunately, I'm running an LS1 intake for now. In the future i could see an LS6 upgrade or something else.
Thanks for any advice! -Jordan

I really like the bmw swaps and have a bmw myself. I would tone down your selection on the cam because the car is on the heavier side. Look at what seems a very mild cam for your setup. It will end up running better because you have more torque under the entire curve off idle to redline. I noticed you didn't mention any gears. Do you have the m3 differential? The last thing I would be doing is chasing a power number instead if you want to compare numbers look at average power from 2000 to 4000 and then look at average power at your shift points.

I'd throw at least 11:1 CR at that for it to drive well and aim more for 11.5:1. So swapping out heads to ported LS6 would get you there without losing PtV.
The cam is a pretty good cam in terms of making power everywhere and having decent manners, especially in a 6L.

Nice sized cam for a LQ9 , but not to big at all.
FYI, the XE-R lobes that cam uses are aggressive, so use some good dual valve springs.

Ya I was definetely plan on some good dual springs. In the future I want to switch to some l98 heads (I think that's the right number. Maybe l92? I can't remember ). Would this cam be too tame at that point? I guess I could always sell this one and go bigger at that point.
FYI goals for the car are... Well I'm not really sure lol. I drive a GOLF R daily, so this will just be a toy. Might do an autocross here and there. Maybe I'll hit the drag strip once or twice. Definetely want a really fast sleeper. Not concerned with idle quality or anything. Oh it has a tr6060 behind so I don't have to worry about stall speed or anything.
I'm not sure what gears are in it. I've been told by PO the car has the m3 diff but who knows. I don't think they made anything less than about 3.50 gears.
