Rockbouncer 408 build
#21
I had a scarry offer today to buy a RCR race engine that hasn't been ran for 6k. It is so tempting to see what 9k rpms feel like. I am thinking hard about going that route and on top of all that it will be dry sumped and no worries on oiling issues.

Its nice to see a solid lift build. I'm doing the same thing ( 408 ) solid roller. I'm using 799 stage 3 heads with a 260/270 duration with almost 800 lift. Super vic intake gutted out and a fast 4150 tb, 1345 cfm. Rpm sound be 7, 000 to 8,000 rpms. You just need a really good valve train system, spring, push rods (3/8 ) and rockers, I'm using td adjustable rockers and short travel lifters. Good luck with the build.. and by the way, I'm selling a cam speced by martin for a solid, I just went biggger

I think I am it is pretty much a offer I can't refuse as long as it is what the guy says it is. I get what everyone wants a full on race engine hahaha plus dry sump which is awesome with what I do. I will post up some pictures when I go look at it this weekend or the first of next week.

I guess if I get he RCR engine I will put the fast system on it and hope it fuels it hahaha. I need to find someone that wants to build me a nice set of 1 7/8" 180degree headers because it should sound pretty nasty with only 5k rpms hahaha

Keep the thread updated. I'm sure there is someone local who can build you some headers. Any one local to you who builds truck pulling engines?

Well I'm still not sure that I'm not going to go with the 408 it just depends if I have room for the dry sump setup and can finagle both my power steering pumps onto that motor. The 408 solid roller motor isn't kicked to the side yet but it's hard to turn down a 800ish hp motor for that price if I can wiggle it everything in there.

As far as the headers go as much as I would love to have them I don't really have room for the 180 as they take a lot of room to clear them and that is something that I am hurting for. Now what I any shoot for is a try-y set up but room will tell once I decide if I go that route.
