Default Comp Cams Trunion issues vs non issues

Everyone that has or had Comp trunions
How long have you had them installed?
Have you had any issues with them?
If you had an issue with then what was it?

Iv heard a few people say that their junk and others swear by them, so i figured it would be a good to get some numbers of issues vs non issues for people on the fence about getting them.

I've had them a couple years and no problems. Probably 10k miles.

How many people have actually had bearings come out of their rockers? Also what are the differences between Comp, Lunati, and Summit trunnions?

No issues, but only 3500 on motor.

Properly installed I bet the vast majority don't see any problems.

Several yrs and about 12k miles no issues with Comp trunion up grade, and I dd my car. The upgrade is fairly fool-proof, but it can still be screwed up if you make the mistake of think it's 110% fool-proof.

BTW, Harland Sharp also makes a trunion upgrade kit.

Mine are fine but I only have about 3k miles on them. As long as you install them correctly, there shouldn't be any issues.

I had a set ran them about 8k miles went to do a head swap and found that the trunions and bearings were wore out, if your car don't see a lot of miles you should be fine with them but if you dd your car don't expect them to last long

I put around 13k? on mine I believe... a yrs worth of daily driving, and a lot of long trips. Frankly, I beat the hell out of the car, and it took it without a single issue.

Ran them with a stick from Ed Curtis, a 229/236 .631.631 with no issues, AFR 205 heads, bronze guides, LS7 lifters and LS2 trays.

I also changed my oil every 3k miles regardless of the color, still gold or not.
I ran Castrol Edge (gold bottle, not black) 5w30, and a Wix 51522 (longer filter) and the filter was always changed with the oil.
I did run Valvoline VR1 for a little while; both the synthetic and the conventional.

I went back to the edge bc it's the only oil (4 different LSx motors / vehicles now) that made the valvetrain damn near silent.

I have done 22 sets of these with out any failures. Using the correct assem dies to press the bearing in and set end play to .008-.009 plus use assem lube you should not have any issues

I have done probably 15-20 sets without any issues and I have had them in my built 6.0l LQ9 in my truck for close to 25k miles without any kind of issue. I generally like to recommend them with any motor that has a bigger aftermarket cam in it.

Honestly I might just buy a set of stock rockers for cheap and send them in to Harland Sharp for their trunnion (basically the same thing right?) because from the sound of it, setting them up right is key and I'd rather have a company that makes rockers set them up for me.

Regardless of upgrade/no upgrade; if you have an aftermarket cam that requires higher than stock loaded springs, the rockers should be visually inspected twice a year or every few thousand miles depending on how often the car is driven.

I tack weld the stock bearing covers on & have even had one of the tacked covers fail where the tacked section held & part of the cover where there was no tack weld snapped off. This is not related to the "rocker upgrade" in question, but demonstrates the added loading experienced by the rockers. Even though the upgrade is an excellent mod, upgraded rockers can & have @ times failed. It's far less likely, yet still need to be visually inspected from time to time. It's simply part of owning a modified engine.

I figured there would be very few issues.
