Default Price of rebuilding an ls1 and cams

Hello my name is Andrew and i have a 98 camaro z28/ss. It has a bad camshaft and i am wondering how much the total cost would be to replace the cam and rebuild the engine. also should i invest in upgraded cams now since i have headers, intake mainifold, and full exhaust and i need new cams?

Don't know whether to get the stage 2 or 3 comp cam. Also what cam type or name to get. and upgraded parts with installation fee. Want to set it up to this setup: 240/244-duration, .608/.596-inch lift, 112 LSA.

He's basically pointing it is a very vague question.

How long in a piece of string?

What sort of rebuild? as many standard parts as possible?
Forged items?
etc.

Stock rebuilds are typically about $800-900 dollars and increase from there as you add aftermarket parts or need more labor done. Replacing the cam while the engine is out and being rebuilt would be a great time to do it as you will pay MUCH less in labor costs versus replacing the cam while the engine is in the car. Expect to also have to buy hardened pushrods and aftermarket valvesprings with the aftermarket cam.

When you're ready to pull the trigger, get a quote from a shop of your choice for a more accurate price.

find a good engine machine shop 1st before you buy any parts .shop Texas Speed or the ws6 store ,to get a Idea of what all the parts cost .you can carefully disassemble the motor your self to save money .maybe buy a cheap machinist caliper to measure for parts wear .if the stock crank is good ,you can grind it .if the crank needs more then a 10/10 regrind consider a 383 stroker assembly .you can get new rods for $310 from scat .you can get new pistons for $370 from probe .bearings will cost $200,gaskets and seals will cost $250.check Texas Speed for cam kits prices .

Just to clarify; you would rebuild your engine with one cam. It's not a mod motor.
