Default 54-412-11 CompCam

I know the first thing your gonna say is man thats the smallest cam anyone on here has wanted to put in there car! Heres the specs on it
212/218 .522 .529 114lobsep

I did some searching on here but all that came up were the trucks anone used this cam in a 5.7 and not a 5.3 or 6.0? Just wanting to know where does it stand? Or do you think there is another choice?

Thanks

well, its a 4 or 5yo cam now, there has been alot of improvement in cam technology since then... if u want a cam that needs no tuning, then its ok, but u can gain alot more power with a newer cam and tuning...

I recently purchased a Comp 54-424-11 but have not yet installed it. Specifications of current version are 212/218 0.558/0.563 LSA is 115 degrees. I selected this cam because I wanted see if I can push the ’02 LS6 cam specs a bit and still pass California emissions.

I just included the 212/218 cam on the list of Desktop Dyno 2000 simulation #s from the other thread. Again, just use the numbers to get an idea of the cams characteristics in comparison with the other cams. No flames PLEASE. I'm not claiming these #s as actual. Here are the horsepower #s at 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000:

stock cam; 147, 193, 241, 280, 301, 308, 299, 279, 248
Vinci 011; 149, 197, 248, 288, 313, 324, 318, 299, 266
Vinci 043; 149, 197, 249, 293, 319, 336, 333, 319, 289

I ran the 54-424-11 in my 01GMC truck with a 5.3L. I liked the cam I don't think a truck is a good comparison since they don't ad any timing until after 3000 rpm's. so I don't think the low end is a good comparison with that said I could not tell a seat of the pants loss in low end torque. After 3000 rpm's it pulled a lot harder than the stock cam. Hope this helps you.
