Default Necessary Aftermarket Engine Components

Alright, Now Iv done some research myself on this topic but just wanted to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

I've just bought an LS1 and am looking to make a good amount of power out of it. Id say 1000hp is the main goal. From what I've read, I should have no problem keeping the OEM crank, and we will be porting the stock LS1 heads.

Here is a quick list of what I think needs replacing, feel free to add anything that you think I'm missing.

-Pistons
-Piston Rings
-Rods
-Valve Springs
-Push Rods
-Camshaft
-Injectors
-Head Gasket

The only thing I see missing is what's going to get you anywhere near 1,000 RWHP. You'll need fuel system upgrades as it won't be able to keep up with demand. Get at least some 243 heads if you want to keep it cheap. Ported 241s to ported 243s will have the 243s better every time. I also wouldn't push the stock crank that high. Add ARP bolts for mains, rods, balancer, cam and heads. They are not insignificant in cost for all of them either.

ARP head studs for sure then. You may have planned for it but the costs escalate rapidly. You have the entire drive train needing to be upgraded, all bearings and "while you're in there" things like lifters, oil pump, timing set, a new manifold, TB and on and on and on. I just did a little stroker build on my LS1 and even with having almost all of the other parts already ( I had ported heads, manifold, TB, injectors, headers, drive train, etc) went over $5,000 doing my own labor.

What year is the block? 1000 hp on an early alloy block I thought was pushing it, but I might be wrong. Might be worth it to get truck heads for the lower compression, but you can get dished pistons too.

I was going to get dished pistons when I bought them in order to lower the compression. I was looking at about 9.5:1

Iv got a 2000 LS block.. if 1000hp is too much on a stock block then I might as well just scrap the idea for that much horsepower.

That's a pretty big goal your after. It will get expensive VERY quickly. I wouldn't use anything on the stock bottom end, or the block. Iron block with forged internals to support that kind of HP.

At least your honest. So many people on here never tell the actual amount it really cost even though they are doing there own labor. Unless you have real connections it always cost more than what people tell you on here.
