Default What engine is this?

I found a guy that saids he had a 5.3 and it's been sitting for 2 years. I asked him to pull the covers and send me a picture. Biggest concern is rust/corrosion since it's been sitting for so long.

Looking at the heads the casting number looks to be 092..? I've looked and looked but can't find anything on this engine.

The casting number on the cylinder head in the last picture says 862. Just a standard 5.3 bud.

It looks like the numbers are 092 or 062 and when I search for those nothing came back.

I'm waiting to hear back from the guy if it is alum or iron block.

If you look at the contours of the first number it looks like an 8. A 0 would be a continuous line, but you can see a dimple in the middle. It's hard to tell because the middle of the number is either missing or covered.

The reason you're not finding anything for those numbers is because they don't exist.

I have a 4.8 and a 5.3 that both have 862 heads. Not a sure fire way to tell the difference.

They are 862 heads. On the crankshaft turn it until the 2nd counter weight is showing, It will either be machined flat in the middle and round on the edges (3.622" 5.3) OR round all the way across and have 482 cast into the crankshaft in large numbers (4.8).
