Default question about pitting/corrosion on cylinder head

Hey y'all,

I'm trying to make do with some 806 heads on a turbo 5.3.
I welded up the notch so I can run MLS gaskets. In the process I noticed some gnarly corrosion next to the water passage.
My best guess is the fiber/composite gasket held coolant there.
Here's about the worst of it.

It's gnarly enough I don't think I'd get a decent weld on it without grinding out all the crud first. The deck is thinnest there, and I'm afraid of warping it beyond the .030" cut I have planned to hit my target CR.

What I'd love to hear is not to worry about it since I'm using MLS gaskets.

I got no excuses about using such haggard gear. I'm cheap. My budget for car stuff is near-zero. I can however weld and machine stuff to my heart's content.

Lemme have it straight.
