Default Roller rocker recommendation...

Can anyone recommend a 1.7:1 roller rocker that they have had good results with. Also, could you warn me on what to stay away from because of your own personal experience.

Thanks

Are you aware 1.7 is stock and aftermarket roller rockers are expensive and harder to control valvetrain mass. The vast majority of setups are better served with the "trunnion upgrade" putting aftermarket bearings in stock rockers.

I have had very good success with Yella Terra rockers. I run them with bronze guides in the heads to keep side wear down because the stock rockers don't provide a very good wipe pattern for the softer bronze guides.

I've had Yella Terra Ultralite rockers since February 2009 when I installed TFS 215 heads. The TFS springs have ~450 lbs open pressure, and never had a failure. But I always use Royal Purple 10W40 HPS or Mobile 1 15W50 oil. In spring 2013, I installed an EPS/Cam Motion cam and BTR Platinum valve springs with ~400 lbs open pressure as I discovered that the Yella Terra Ultralite rockers might not like 450 lbs open pressure springs.

My cam specs are 234/242/.600/.615/117+2, and it pulls hard to 7000 rpm.
And I'm sure I'll never have a rocker failure with the lower open & seat pressure of the BTR Platinum valve springs.

Use them all the time, and, they are adjustable like the Gen 1 engine

OP understand the comments about roller rockers and less side load are specifically as it relates to aftermarket heads with bronze guides, it is a non-issue with GM heads and their powdered metal guides.
Also remember a lot of folks who have wasted good money on "upgrades" that aren't often like to tell others how great the part is because it is easier than admitting the mistake they made.

With the LS engines the ratio is 1.7 stock and the fulcrum already roller, this isn't a gen 1 with 1.5 and a ball fulcrum where a rocker upgrade with higher ratio is a common and good proven mod.
On the LS side of things you will even find vendors telling you a $100 trunnions upgrade is better money spent than $800 roller rockers that make the valves harder to control due to weight. They have their place, but in relatively few builds.

What is the "reunion upgrade"? Do the stock rockers hold a party 5, 10, 20 years after graduation?

Yella Terra or if you have the $ to burn jesel shaft mounts, are the only real options for a roller rocker on a ls engine imo.

Stock or Shaft mounts seem to be the best options. Aftermarket pedestal mount RR's are heavy at the roller and harder to control.

Probably the worst choice you could have made.

PRW roller rockers? I bought a set of their stainless rockers a while back. They are very heavy and I wasn't too impressed with the quality. Some of the roller tips weren't square with the pivot. I contacted PRW and they sent me 3 new ones but they weren't much better so I ended up returning the set.

It's funny how these "hard to control" aftermarket rockers keep ending up on these 500whp LS1's...
