spring max lift question
spring max lift question I will be installing a TU1 cam (225/225 with .581/.581 at 113) so the max lift is .581 with a 1.7:1 rocker. I see Lingerfelter offers an LS9 spring that is verified with a certain coil bind height for a max lift of .580
What would the issue if any be by running this spring? Is the .001 difference of lift negligible? Thanks for the info.

Not sure how you came up with the 0.580" for lift capability of the spring. It all depends on installed height and I have never had one set up at 1.800". Most have set up at 1.765". Seat force is another critical parameter as mentioned in the post by 96capricemgr.
I was going off what Lingerfelter has on their site under the link I posted. It's listed as 1.800 installed height.

The point he was making is true install height is often less than 1.800 which will bring the spring closer to bind.
With few exceptions aftermarket cams should use aftermarket springs. OEM springs are lite pressure to keep parasitic losses low for mileage and such. I know in the 70s it was common to use stock springs but they didn't have the options we do.
