I fully understand where you coming from on that redbird. OP have you talked to advance induction ? They can get you to your power goal even with those 241 heads. If the car was mine I would really look into these guys. Here is a link to a build that should be very knowledgeable to you https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/1531973-advanced-induction-hcr-241-s-dyno-results.html

When you dive into heads and cam on a stock car the OP understands he needs new exhaust, but what about some suspension mods to keep the axle planted, wheel hop will be easier with the extra power and easily takes out the crappy 7.5". Speaking of for the car to dive well with a bigger cam gears should be up in the 3.90-4.10 range with the M6. What about looking at a clutch upgrade, or what if the old fuel pump is a little weak and doesn't keep up, or the old stock injectors for that matter or a whole host of other things that can be uncovered.

$5500 evaporates quick when looking to do heads and cam on a stock car.
Just simple figures
$1000+ for exhaust
$2000+ for heads and cam by the time you find even a cheap 5.3l casting to send in
$500 for gears installed
$500 for tuning
$1000 minimum should be set aside for head bolts, fluids, timing chain, oilpump, lifters, gaskets, shop supplies like rags, oil dry, brake parts cleaner,. Hell a grand probably won't cover that stuff much less leave some cushion for unexpected items.

If a true LS1 intake on a he car a LS6 intake is advisable as well.

See how fast cash disappears when you start looking at the bigger picture?
Don't say this to discourage, but rather to prepare so you don't get bit in the middle of the project.
i sold a complete 5.3 intake to oil pan with harness front accessory drive and computer for 500. So i call bs on 2k for 5.3 ported heads. Plus most of the 799 5.3 heads are the faulty/ coolant leaking castech heads and theyr a waste of money.

Sell ls1- minimum 1k

Get a used lq9 longblock. 1500
(Most are less than 1k, check craigslist.)
Sell off used parts from engine - 500
So 1000 for longblock at the very worst
New rods and pistons 1200
Machine shop labor 500
Any set of heads, stock gm castings about 500.
2200 so far
new cam kit 750
Monster stage 2 clutch 750(who wouldnt want the arp hardware?????)
tune 300
thats 4000.
Tsp headers-550- but they have a lot of sales. Theyre 400 now.
Tsp true duals- 550.
thats 5100.
save up until christmas for midwest chassis sale and buy an m9. Or go with a strange s60.

Those are some high prices as well. Op if you do your homework and shop around in the classifieds it would be much cheaper. I also just wanted to show you the 6.0 iron block route because no one else did.

And if you take away all the money i threw in there just to be "safe" you could buy all the gaskets, arp rod bolts main studs and head studs.

For 430rwhp on stock gears you need heads.
For 430rwhp cam only you need gears ASAP for it to be drivable.

Selling off an LS1 and replacing it with a 6.0l could help, LS1 commands a premium.
Still ignoring suspension, intake tract and manifold, incidentals, ignoring fuel system possible upgrades being needed, anyone experienced always agrees it is best to estimate high on costs. If you end up under budget that is great, if you endup out of budget while the car is apart that sucks.
If the car is late enough that it got the LS6 intake that helps budget.

Op... If you do a btr stage 4 cam (235/242) you'll exceed pass 430rwhp! Just use those bolt on as I listed....
The Brian Tooley cam have been dynoed at 424 horses threw a 9" converter and a automatic transmission. The heads was untouched 241 heads with btr platinum springs. A automatic eats up rwhp unlike a 6 speed. Look up member 01_ram air and check his build out. It's not like you trying to get a 1000 horsepower out a 4.8 naturally aspirated.
