Default MS4 113 LSA question

Hey guys, I just bought a ms4 cam from a friend and it's on a 113 lsa. It's going in a ls2/t56 4th gen. Will I be sacrificing any power with the 113 lsa vs the standard 111 lsa? THANKS

it shouldnt make too much of a difference at all it will move the powerband up a couple hundred rpm though. what are your mods and what engine is this going in

EDIT: just saw ls2/t56 anyway that cam is pretty big even for an ls2, if you plan to use the car a l;ot on the street and want it to be fun you really need a good set of heads/compression and a set of 4.10's min imo

Depends on if there is any advance or not. Do you happen to know?

I don't believe there is any advance. I'm using a ls6 intake and plan on using 4:10's or 4:30's. I have all the other normal supporting modifications. I'm usuing a btr .660 lift valve spring kit with titanium retainers. I would like to eventually get the 243's ported. And I don't really care about street manners

I don't think it will be a big difference between the 2 then...especially with the right gears and good compression

My LS1 prc215/ms4/FAST set up didn't peak until 6900 and that was on a 111lsa. The cubes will take a little away from the peak rpm so I'd expect around the same peak. 68-69. It was a little rev happy. Power started to come in around 5k but it wasn't bad. Even on the driveability. I think you'll be fine.

Say I want to mill the heads .030, is there enough piston material there to flycut or would I be flycutting right through the piston?

You should be fine flycutting. We drilled through a stock LS1 piston just to see how thick they were and if I remember right it was roughly 1/2".

As mentioned, the 113 LSA will move the power band up slightly vs. the 111 LSA. You won't have any room for thinner head gaskets, head milling, or larger valves (unless it's an aftermarket casting head with laid over valve angles) without fly-cutting the pistons. If you're going to go through the hassle of cutting the pistons, I'd cut a minimum of .060". That way you have some extra room for down the road, should you need it. I cut as large as .120" intake reliefs in my 2002 SS Camaro 10 years ago running heads/cam and a 200 HP shot of N2O. I eventually bent a rod, but the pistons never had any issues.

Let us know if we can help!
