Default Morel 5206 lifters ????

I am building 5.3l boosted engine, shooting for 800-1000 Rwhp. I want to go with a nice set of lifters. Are the morel 5206 the best option? Car will mostly see street use. But the street use won't be granny driving lol. I'm running stock rockers with trunion upgrade.

If you want the best I would get the 5294's (PAC-LFT109-LS). The 5206's are a great lifter though (PAC-LFT-105-LS)

Well my engine builders recommends 20w-50 oil but morel sais 5294 lifters need thinner oil because of tighter clearances. That would be the next issue with those.

Wondering if I should just go with the cheaper ones so I can run the vr1 20w-50 oil still

I would do the 5206's if you are planning on running 20/50 oil.

They're literally identical, and both have link bars. The difference is the 5274 will fit the Warhawk blocks as well...

Are we talking about 5294's or 5274's. 5294's cannot use 20/50 oil.

I was going to go with the 5294 but decided not to because of the smaller clearance so requiring thinner oil. Now I am looking at the 5274 which apparently is the same thing as the 5206. Now I just need to know what the lunati part # is for the 5206 because they are cheaper through lunati. Apparently lunati uses morel lifters.

They are "Lunati 72437". Not sure why you're builder made an engine to run on sludge though. Must be some pretty big tolerances for the boost. I got the high RPM (5294 equivalent) through Hinson where I got the best pricing.

It is thompson motorsports. Seems like lots of people are running the vr1 20w-50.

Is the link bar lifters going to make more valvetrain noise?

Run the 5206's if its a true street engine. The 5294's are sensitive to anything in the oil, and what your engine builder said is right about the clearances is why I say that. The valvetrain noise will depend on what preload you set it at and the ramp aggressiveness on the cam not the linkbars themselves.

Mine dont really make any.
Also make sure you measure the pushrod length correctly. Morels use a different cup height than a normal LS lifter.
my pushrods ended up being 7.375 IIRC with .050 preload

Planning on it... I have the tool somewhere I need to dig it out soon.
