Default Good cam for bolton car

What is a good cam to put in on a all bolton setup. K&N FIPK, SLP MAFS, SLP LT headers, cats, LM catback. I was hoping to get close to 400 hp but have it streetable cuz its a daily driver that does some rice steaming and pony roasting, with some track use. Thanks in advance

I would reccomend a 224/224 cam, both tr and tsp have them as well as other sponsors and guys ae making decent power with them. I'd do a search on the 224 and see what it turns up, you can learn alot about what poeple think of that cam and what to run with it. Just my .02

Yep, TR224. One of the few things in my car that I haven't changed out more than once. I've done street, drag, Land Speed racing and autoX with this cam and it's worked great for everything.

its your pref-

112 will have a slightly "lopey" idle over the 114. The 114 will peak higher in the powerband and will be easier on smog

which will help 1/4 more,
tr or tsp 224?
what about the other brands?
will the differences in lift make that much of a difference?

I went with the TR227/224-114 and dynoed 390hp 377ft-lb with just SLP LT and an ASP pulley and no tuning. I think with a little tunning it will pull over 400.

honestly, if you get a small cam you will regret it...

the G5X3 cam drives like a smaller cam, with the power of a heads/cam car... if you can get a ride in someone that has one and you will see! There really is no point in getting anything smaller, or similar as even other companies huge cams havent been able to match the low end torque or drivability of the X2 and X3...

I have a list of references that use the cams and were skeptical at first, or switched from smaller cams and now have no clue why they bought a small cam in the first place Let me know if you want them

How much does the G5X-3 cam cost? What kinda numbers will it put up with pacesetter headers going into true duals? What kinda gas millage are u getting on it? (I have a 7 hr drive to college ill be making 5 trips to each yr... 10 total drives) What are the numbers of it like the lift/duration/LSA? Please fill me in on this and where it can be bought and any other helpful suggestions. Thanks.

It cost like $450-$500 area I think, not exactly sure, I bought mine from Mike (SS on your Six) as a package, we're friends, he installed it for me, I helped out... a little I have Pacesetters and a Borla/cutout that I will be dynoing next weekend, so I can post the numbers to let you know, all cars are different, so it may not be exact. Plus we have crappy gas and horrendous heat here in AZ, so I am not looking forward to seeing my pitiful numbers. I am one of the people he has a list of that switched from another cam to the X3.

Well with the gas... do u think i could see 20 mpg on the highway with this cam? And you said around 450-500 range... are u talking for just the came or for a kit or for the cam and install or just the cam? What kinda springs/lifters (i need to replace them anyways due to a small problem with my stock ones)/pushrods/retainers should i get with it if i were to buy it? When u get those numbers.. PM me or E-mail me at mooley@comcast.net or post them cuz id REALLY like to see these numbers. I have borla catback at the moment. But Im selling and buying pacesetters to true duals (doing the work myself.) I will doing the install on my cam myself... The tune will be brought to a speed shop though. Or LS1-edit. Which do u suggest for the tune by the way? Well get back to me with the answers please. Thanks once again.

Oh hell yeah, 20 on the highway for shizzle dude, more like mid-high 20's on the highway! And that price is CAM ONLY, you will need dual valve springs, titanium retainers, new seats and new pushrods, they sell a whole cam package, that has eveything you need. I am using my stock lifters with 82k miles, stock rockers same miles as well. I got the Comp Cams 921 dual spring package, I wanted the Crane dual springs but they are on national back order, and I couldn't wait to get the cam in, so I bit the bullet on the Comps, they work fine! I will get the dyno for you no problem. I can PM you with a contact for the entire kit you will need, the best guy I have delt with so far! I use LS1 edit, hands down the best thing for tuning I have seen. Some people are running the cam without tuning too, so you will have some time to get that car tuned if need be.

Here's my sig from LS1.com, here's my mods....

'99 SS #2049, Hugger Orange, M6, LG G5X3 114 Cam, Comp 921 dual springs, Titanium retainers, TR Pushrods, LS6 Intake, Borla, Pacesetter Long Tube Headers, 3" y-pipe w/ no cats, ASP Crank Pulley, FRA, McLeod Street Twin, B&M Ripper, Moser 12 bolt, 4.11's, LS1edit, KBDDSFC's, 1LE 21mm rear sway bar, GW Adj. Panhard Rod, Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, BMR STB, BMR LCA relocation brackets, GMS MAF, Whisper Lid, Braided SS brake lines, K&N, Power Antenna, 18x9.5 & 18x10.5 Chrome Z06 wheels, !CAGS, !EGR, 178' thermo., all SLP options.

Best ET:
*12.665@109.72mph - 1.741 60ft. before cam
Best MPH:
*113.5 mph after cam, HOT outside and huge exhaust leak before G5X3
Dyno #'s:
*379.8 RWHP, 352.4 RWTQ on a bad day before G5X3

You will be fine without the LS6 intake, when you get it, BONUS HP for you

There is some truth to that, but we're still looking at a moderate gain with lots of lope. If emissions are a concern I would address that with your engine builder or whoever is doing the install before you choose parts. Otherwise it's easy to make a mistake at this stage of planning. As far as if you get a small cam, they will say, you'll be going bigger soon...Why even do it? Riiiiiiiiigght!!!

Well with that cam... can LS1 EDIT take alot of that lope out. I mean emissions is a porblem for me but my friend has an 11 sec car with no cats and a cam with the lift of i beleive 585 to 595... something like that. He passed emissions. IDK HOW but he did but he did lol... His car sounds like a jet by the way. They just hooked him up and when he didnt throw a code they let him leave lol. No problems... imhoping the same goes for me if i did this cam lol. Let me know what u think.
