ls6 Cam
It is...I think I paid 90 bucks for the last one I bought...
That being said...I don't think it gets enough credit when building on a super tight budget.
I built a super budget 5.3L for my 1972 Chevelle wagon.
I would have liked to use a "custom" $350-$400 dollar cam...Morel lifters...a nice set of BTR springs...(and I will somday when I decide to go "big") but that's not very budget friendly in my book. I used an LS6/Z06 cam...55 dollar "blue valve springs...LS7 lifters...
This thing is a barrel of fun...knocks down over 23 MPG and idles like a stock Corvette...
(Which I think with that cam made 405 HP stock.)

That cam is hardly noticeable in exhaust sound and will get great fuel economy.

Near LS1 idle quality, pulls hard all the way to 6600 RPM, and no one has a clue from its sound...I'm a fan of the LS6 cam...
You should try and tell us how great it worked in your 408 with rectangle port heads that way you make sure to really compare apples to oranges.

Would you happen to remember which magazine had that article...???
I have one of those 02 LS1 cams also...I'd like to see how it compared...
Hot Rod did a test years ago with both the 01 and 02+ LS6 camshafts reground on tighter LSAs and they both made strong midrange.
