Default speedmaster gaskets?

I'm doing a H/C swap in the near future along with fixing (hopefully) a possible leaking oil pan. I was planning on using GM gaskets but I ran across these
http://store.speedmaster79.com/p-425...bore-3945.aspx
anyone hear anything about them.. or has anyone used them? opinions about using them

Stock MLS LS1 head gaskets are like $35 shipped/pair from Summit Racing. Why bother looking elsewhere?

Because those are .054 thick. When you run .040 cometic the compression boost is greater than .2, more like .35 from what i've read. Plus the better quench number of .34 helps stave off detonation. Cometic and FelPro 1041 both cost around $160 for a pair so if 98Zeric has found a cheaper alternative that's a pretty big deal.
It takes .007" milling to remove 1cc from an LS1 head. 241 milled .015 yields around 10.3 to 1 compression ratio.
With Graphite/composition gaskets, for 2003 MLS gaskets subtract .1 to .2 from the ratio. Also, milling can hurt head flow.
241 has 66.67cc chambers for 10.1 to 1 Compression. Intake = 200cc Exhaust = 70cc
706 has 61.15cc chambers for 11.1 to 1 compression. Intake = 200cc Exhaust = 70cc
243 has 64.45cc chambers for 10.5 to 1 compression. Intake = 210cc Exhaust = 75cc

98Zeric, do you have a link to just the head gaskets ?

edit: http://www.jegs.com/i/Speedmaster/74....1013/10002/-1 I think I found it.

My build is on a super tight budget and this gasket set saves $110.00 over the Cometic head gaskets, money I can spend on a better part where it matters. Something tells me some copper spray wouldn't hurt it's sealing qualities.
Thank you sir for posting your find !

"Where it matters"? So getting quality head gaskets is not "where it matters"?

As someone who has dealt with Speedmaster79/Procomp Electronics in the past. All their products are JUNK and should be avoided no matter how attractive the price.

Speedmaster 79 is the new name for the company in Australia. Procomp is the US distribution center where all the Chinese made products go to to be shipped out.

You're quite welcome.

"Where it matters" as in quality springs, oil pump, injectors, etc. , moving parts. I would not want their $35.00 pushrods or the like.
If the head gasket really is .040 thick with holes in the right place and it seals enough to keep the chocolate out of the peanut butter. I DO plan on buying from your store some other parts but feel Cometics are too expensive for what they do.
While your in here coSPEED, do you sell a gasket kit, crank bolt, front seal as a package deal for a cam swap ?

I would never trust anything from Speedmaster79. Nothing like a blown head gasket to deal with.

I love their "TD" rocker arms that break because there are so many pore holes in the casting lol. They look like they were carved out of sponges.

Oh their cylinder heads. LS cylinder heads you have to mill because they come uneven.

Total junk. You should pop open one of their "msd" boxes. The electronics are total junk.

There is more, just buy their stuff and find out the hard way.
