Default Heads!?!?!?

Hey guys I need some help! Im trying to get the best set of heads for a 5.3 under $1000! Should I keep the 862's and do some work on them? or try to get some 243's or something different. Any and all help would be great! also the vehicle would be used for weekend and racing. No daily. I and do not yet fully understand compression ratios. Help me choose! haha

I'd take a look at these ...http://www.advancedinduction.com/LSX...cGM706Head.php Or a set of 243 stock (<$500) would be better than your stock 862's. What cam? Stock?

I have no idea on cams yet. I just started the build and wanted to get everything cleaned up and ready before I decide much more. What would be a good setup?

Haha Sorry. Its going in a 96 s10 2wd. I plan to run a wet system. at least 150 shot so more than likely forged internals. 122,000 miles. already sent the block to be cleaned and honed out. budget is around $3000. on motor only. Are 243's any good?

Good heads can net a lot of power. If willing to forge I would spend less on nitrous and forged parts and more on heads for power that is always there.

I don't see any reason a well supported heads/cam 5.3l wouldn't run 11s in that truck but buying the cheapest heads wont do the trick.

Even consider more on heads, keep the stock pistons and dial it down to a 100-125 shot if 150 on stock pistons worries you.

I agree with all of this ^^ except that truck is light and should run 10's
I'm running 150 on stock pistons...it's all in the tune.
